Description
PUR and resol ETICS market Germany: sales in million m² and forecast to 2031
How is the PUR and resol ETICS market in Germany developing? The dataset provides sales of external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) with polyurethane (PUR) or resol foam in million m² of system area for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast.
The dataset covers facades insulated with rigid PUR or resol (phenolic) foam. With very low thermal conductivity, these foams allow the slimmest ETICS build-up, suiting renovations with little space: boundary walls, narrow courtyards and listed buildings where thick EPS or mineral wool will not fit. Other composite systems and PUR roof and perimeter boards are separate datasets.
PUR and resol systems form a technically justified niche. The strength of the foams is performance per centimetre, their limit a price well above standard systems, so the niche keeps a near-constant slice of all ETICS sales. Volumes therefore follow the overall ETICS segment, which slumped after subsidy cuts and steep cost increases. After the trough only a mild recovery is expected, with space-constrained housing renovation as the core. The niche will not become a growth segment.
Which questions about the PUR and resol ETICS market does the dataset answer?
- How much facade area receives slim rigid-foam systems, and how did volumes fall in the downturn?
- How important is renovation compared with new build?
- What do non-residential buildings contribute to this niche compared with housing?
- In which year is the trough, and how far do sales recover by 2031?
Who is the dataset for?
PUR and resol board makers and polyol, isocyanate and phenolic resin suppliers weigh the facade segment against roof and industrial uses. System suppliers review premium ranges, plasterers estimate orders, and heritage architects, investors and analysts gain a consistent series for a poorly documented niche.
Data basis and methodology
Alongside the total, the series breaks down into new build, renovation, residential and non-residential. Inputs are completions, permits and facade retrofits, the wall area usable for such systems per m² of reference area and a low PUR and resol uptake, highest in housing renovation. The model was cross-checked against available market and industry data as well as internal data.
