Description

Liquid waterproofing market Germany: demand and forecast to 2031

How is the liquid waterproofing market in Germany developing? The dataset quantifies demand for liquid-applied roof waterproofing in million m² of sealed area for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast.

It covers seamless, liquid-applied systems based on fast-curing polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyurethane (PUR) and a small share of unsaturated polyester resins, applied under the waterproofing standards DIN 18531 and DIN 18532 and the European assessment guideline ETAG 005. Liquid waterproofing is not a full-surface roof system but the solution for penetrations, upstands, outlets, balconies, terraces and walkways. Only roof uses are counted; below-ground waterproofing is excluded, and plastic and bituminous membranes are separate datasets.

Demand is closely tied to refurbishment and therefore more resilient in downturns than the plastic membrane market. Growth comes from functional roofs: on green and solar roofs, at photovoltaic fixing points and on complex geometries, liquid systems are often technically required. Balcony and terrace refurbishment is a classic residential application, commercial flat roof refurbishment the core non-residential one. After a mild dip in the downturn, a recovery to a slightly rising level is expected.

Which questions about the liquid waterproofing market does the dataset answer?

  • How far did the area sealed with liquid systems fall in the downturn, and how does it recover?
  • How is demand split between non-residential and residential buildings?
  • How does in-house production planning match the expected area path?
  • How is the sealed area split between new build and renovation each quarter?

Who is the dataset for?

Manufacturers of PMMA and PUR systems use the series for sales and production planning, suppliers of resins, fleeces and primers for volume forecasts. Merchants plan ranges and pack sizes, roofers and waterproofing specialists assess their refurbishment business. Investors and analysts gain a transparent series.

Data basis and methodology

The data cover new build and renovation, each split into residential and non-residential buildings, plus the total market. The model links building completions, building permits and roof renovation activity with product-specific parameters such as applied area per m² of roof including upstands and the share of roof area sealed with liquid systems in each segment. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.

Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Plastic roofing membranes (PVC/TPO/EPDM), Bituminous roofing membranes, Extensive green roof and all data on roofs.
