Description
Alu-clad timber windows market Germany: demand for composite windows and forecast to 2031
How is the alu-clad timber windows market in Germany developing? The dataset shows demand for timber-aluminium windows in million window units for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast. Volumes are expressed in standard windows measuring 1.3 × 1.3 m.
The timber-aluminium window is a composite window: a timber frame gives a warm look indoors, an aluminium weather shell outside low-maintenance weather protection. Solid timber, all-aluminium and PVC-aluminium windows are separate datasets. As a premium product, the timber-aluminium window goes mainly into upmarket detached houses and high-end refurbishments and is rare in social and multi-family housing. A considerable share is imported, above all from Austria.
The composite has lost share for years and only levelled off at a low level. Unlike solid timber it gains little from the green-building trend, as the cost of combining two materials limits the customer base. The composite is therefore the only frame material with a persistently slightly negative structural trend. The downturn hit this premium segment especially hard. Upmarket new homes account for an above-average share, alongside energy-related window replacement under the German Buildings Energy Act (GEG).
Which questions about the alu-clad timber windows market does the dataset answer?
- How many window units with timber inside and aluminium outside are installed each quarter?
- How will sales of timber-aluminium windows develop after the construction slump up to 2031?
- How is demand split between residential new build and renovation?
- How deep was the fall in sales during the downturn, and when was the low point?
Who is the dataset for?
Manufacturers and importers of timber-aluminium windows can plan production, supply chains and sales territories. Suppliers of aluminium cladding, profile systems, hardware and insulating glass can size their opportunities. Installers, architects in upmarket housing, investors and analysts gain a basis for competitive decisions.
Data basis and methodology
Alongside the overall total, the series is split by new build and renovation and by residential and non-residential use. The model relates completions, permits and window renovation to windows per m² of floor area, identical for all frame materials, weighted by the timber-aluminium share per segment. The model was cross-checked against available market and industry data as well as internal data.
Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Timber windows, Aluminium windows, Triple-glazed insulating glass and all data on windows, doors and sun protection.
