The dataset reports domestic sales of smart home hubs and gateways in thousand units throughout each quarter from Q1\/2021 to Q4\/2031 \u2013 as historical market data and forecast.<\/p>\n<p>Acting as the control unit of radio-based systems, access points, controllers and bridges run logic, store scenes and schedules and translate between radio standards, while KNX IP gateways link bus installations to apps. Routers with control functions and voice assistants with built-in radio standards count as network and entertainment technology and are excluded, as are smart thermostats, plugs, lamps and KNX components.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike bus technology, hubs are mostly retrofitted in existing homes, often by residents themselves and frequently several per household, as users combine systems. Demand therefore follows the number of smart home households rather than construction; after the decline in 2022 and 2023 it rises gently but steadily, and new build adds little. Suppliers are highly fragmented. Retailers, DIY stores and online shops manage range, electricians assess retrofit business, and analysts track connected home technology beyond bus systems.<\/p>\n<h3>Data basis and methodology<\/h3>\n<p>The dataset separates new build and renovation as well as residential and non-residential buildings and adds the total market. The basis is a stock calculation of households using smart home applications, the share with a standalone hub, hubs per household and their service life; completions, permits and renovation activity allocate volumes to segments via fitting and retrofit rates. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.<\/p>\n<p>Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values.
