Basin mixer tap market Germany: sales in million units and forecast to 2031

How is the basin mixer tap market in Germany developing? The dataset reports domestic sales of washbasin taps in million units for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast.

Coverage is mainly single-lever mixers, plus two-handle mixers and sensor or self-closing taps, typically with a lead-free brass body compliant with the German Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV), chrome finish and ceramic cartridge; premium ranges use PVD (physical vapour deposition) coatings. As the split follows the place of use, shower and bath fittings and kitchen sink mixers are separate datasets.

Demand comes mainly from the existing stock. As a wear part with a moving cartridge that also shapes the look of the bathroom, the tap is often replaced without changing the basin, when it drips or for a visual upgrade. Water-saving models add replacement occasions, and hotels, hospitals and care homes replace more often due to heavy use. The pandemic refurbishment peak was followed by a decline driven by rising interest rates, inflation and weak housebuilding. Premium and water-saving models lift value more than volumes.

Which questions about the basin mixer tap market does the dataset answer?

  • How do sales of washbasin taps develop from 2021 to 2031?
  • How many taps go into refurbished bathrooms and how many into new build?
  • How hard does the residential new-build slump hit basin volumes?
  • What share do non-residential buildings take compared with housing?

Who is the dataset for?

Tap manufacturers plan production and sales with it, suppliers of brass castings, cartridges and coatings their call-off volumes. Plumbing wholesalers and DIY stores manage entry-level, branded and designer ranges, installers gauge replacement business, and analysts gain a volume basis for bathroom refurbishment.

Data basis and methodology

The series is split by new build and renovation and by residential and non-residential buildings, plus the total market. Completions, permits and refurbishment activity are converted via wet rooms per m² of floor space, basin taps per wet room and the replacement cycle. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.

Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Washbasin, Shower fitting / shower system, Kitchen mixer tap (single lever) and all data on sanitary, water and accessibility.
