Description
Tile adhesive market Germany: demand in thousand tonnes and forecast to 2031
How is the tile adhesive market in Germany developing? The dataset shows domestic demand for thin-bed and medium-bed tile mortars in thousand tonnes for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031, as historical market data and forecast.
It covers cementitious and dispersion-based adhesives for ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware and natural stone on walls and floors, indoors and on balconies and terraces. Thin-bed laying needs only a few millimetres; the medium bed serves large-format slabs and uneven substrates. Classification follows DIN EN 12004, from C1 and C2 to the high-performance classes C2 TE and C2 FT. Thin-bed masonry mortar, grouts, waterproofing and levelling compounds are excluded.
Volumes track the tiled area, since every new tile is bonded and the thick-bed method has all but vanished. Rising interest rates, higher material prices and the end of new-build subsidies triggered a sharp drop in tile demand; the trough follows falling completions. A recovery is expected thereafter, driven by new build picking up again, growing modernisation and higher adhesive use per square metre as large formats are laid in a medium bed; pre-crisis levels are not regained.
Which questions about the tile adhesive market does the dataset answer?
- How far did demand for tile adhesive fall after the slump, and when is the trough reached?
- How large is the renovation share of adhesive tonnage compared with new build?
- How much weight does non-residential construction carry relative to housing?
- When do quarterly peaks occur for this late interior trade, and how does the pattern fit in-house capacity planning?
Who is the dataset for?
Dry-mix mortar producers plan plant capacity and sales volumes; suppliers of cement, sand, polymer powder and additives derive their sales. Builders’ merchants and tile retailers manage stock, tilers their workload.
Data basis and methodology
Figures cover new build and renovation, residential and non-residential buildings, and the total market. The model links completions, permits and modernisation activity with tiled area per square metre of floor space, adhesive per square metre of tile and renewal rates for tiled stock; the time path is coupled to the development of installed tile area. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.
Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Grout / joint filler, Bathroom waterproofing membrane, Primer / penetrating primer and all data on paints, construction chemicals and fastening.
