Shower system market Germany: demand in million units and forecast to 2031

How is the shower system market in Germany developing? For every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 the dataset provides domestic demand for shower fittings and shower systems in million units – as historical market data and forecast. Each system counts as one functional unit.

Covered are fittings at shower and bathtub: complete sets with riser rail, concealed sets of overhead and hand shower with thermostat, single hand showers and premium shower panels. Pure accessories without system character are excluded; basin and kitchen mixers are recorded separately. Shower systems are fitted in homes as well as hotels, hospitals, care homes and sports facilities.

The thermostat is central: its share is growing because it prevents scalding, reaches the set temperature quickly and saves water. Multi-spray and large overhead showers, body sprays and app control mainly add value. Shower systems last longer than basin taps because they face less mechanical stress, yet they are often replaced independently of the tub or tray. After a recovery in private refurbishment, homeowner caution amid rising material and energy prices brings a pause before rising residential permits support a new upswing.

Which questions about the shower system market does the dataset answer?

  • How many shower systems and fittings go into German bathrooms per quarter?
  • How large is replacement demand in existing buildings compared with new build?
  • When does total demand for shower systems pick up again?
  • What share of demand comes from non-residential buildings?

Who is the dataset for?

Shower and thermostat makers use it for capacity and launch planning, suppliers of thermostatic cartridges and hoses for delivery volumes. Wholesalers and showrooms weight standard, thermostatic and concealed ranges, installers assess order potential, and analysts track private bathroom modernisation.

Data basis and methodology

New build and renovation, residential and non-residential buildings and the total are shown separately. Completions, permits and modernisation activity are combined with the number of wet rooms per square metre, shower systems per wet room and a replacement cycle longer than for basin taps. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.

Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Shower tray / shower board, Floor-level shower (complete system), Washbasin mixer tap (single lever) and all data on sanitary, water and accessibility.
