Shower drain market Germany: sales in million units and forecast to 2031

How is the shower drain market in Germany developing? For each single quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 the dataset quantifies domestic sales of shower channels and floor drains in million units – as historical market data and forecast.

The broad scope covers linear stainless steel channels, wall- or floor-flush, wall-integrated channels and square or round point drains, mostly made of stainless steel. EN 1253 sets the minimum drainage capacity; units sit beneath the screed with a low construction height and integrated odour trap. Shower trays, shower boards and waste pipes are separate datasets.

Growth comes from the rising share of floor-level showers: each requires a channel or floor drain, making this one of the fastest-growing bathroom products. Linear channels are displacing point drains for visual reasons. Because the channel sits in the screed and is inaccessible once installed, it is replaced only when the whole shower is rebuilt. New build therefore weighs more than for taps, although its share falls while housebuilding stays weak. Hotels, care homes and sports facilities rebuild at shorter intervals.

Which questions about the shower drain market does the dataset answer?

  • How many shower channels and floor drains are installed in Germany per quarter?
  • How strongly do sales of channels and drains grow up to 2031?
  • How much does new build matter against renovation for a part replaced only in full rebuilds?
  • How much demand comes from non-residential and how much from residential buildings?

Who is the dataset for?

Drainage manufacturers plan capacity and ranges with the series, suppliers of stainless steel sheet and odour traps their volumes. Plumbing and tile merchants balance stock between point drains and linear channels, while installers and tilers assess order potential. Analysts gain an indicator for the shift to floor-level showers.

Data basis and methodology

New build, renovation, residential and non-residential buildings are shown separately and as a total. The model combines completions, permits and refurbishment activity with wet rooms per square metre, their equipment with a channel or drain and a long replacement cycle tied to shower rebuilds. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.

Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Shower tray / shower board, Floor-level shower (complete system), PP wastewater pipe (HT/KG) and all data on sanitary, water and accessibility.
