Description
Prefabricated garage market Germany: sales of precast concrete garages and forecast to 2031
How is the prefabricated garage market in Germany developing? The dataset quantifies domestic sales of prefabricated concrete garages in thousand units for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031, as historical market data and forecast.
The dataset covers factory-made garages of reinforced or prestressed concrete, craned as a finished module onto a foundation: single, double and block garages. The garages usually come with a garage door and are increasingly prepared for wallboxes and photovoltaics. Installation takes about a day and, up to a certain size, often needs no permit. Site-built garages, carports, sheet steel garages, shelters and pavilions are excluded; garage doors are a separate product.
As a typical accessory planned together with the single-family house, the garage is dominated by new build, unlike many finishing products. Further outlets are garage blocks in housing developments and retrofits or replacements at existing homes, e.g. for a second or electric car. Commercial and municipal use is minor. Sales fell more sharply than new-build floor area in 2023 and 2024 because owner-occupied housing collapsed and retrofits stalled at high interest rates; after a further dip in 2026, recovery stays below earlier levels. E-mobility and photovoltaics could support retrofits but are not included.
Which questions about the prefabricated garage market does the dataset answer?
- How are garage sales split between residential and non-residential buildings?
- How many units come from retrofits and replacements compared with new build?
- When is the low point reached, and how fast does demand recover by 2031?
- How are garage installations spread across the quarters of a year?
Who is the dataset for?
The dataset suits garage producers, precast plants, suppliers of rebar, doors, operators and charging equipment, developers and haulage firms. Investors and analysts use it to assess plant utilisation and sales trends.
Data basis and methodology
Values are split by new build/renovation and residential/non-residential buildings, plus the total market. The model links completions, permits and renovation activity with parameters such as garages per single-family house, the share of new homes equipped with a prefabricated garage and the retrofit rate in the existing stock. The plausibility of the time series was checked against official and industry association statistics as well as internal data.
Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Precast concrete elements (slabs, walls, stairs), Concrete paving stone, Twin wire mesh fence and all data on structural work, load-bearing structure and outdoor facilities.
