Description
KNX push button market Germany: demand in thousand units and forecast to 2031
How is the KNX push button market in Germany developing? The dataset tracks domestic demand for KNX sensors and push-button sensors in thousand units over every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast.
Covered are the control and signalling elements of the system: wall push-buttons, presence or motion detectors, room thermostats, window contacts and weather stations. The sensors switch no current themselves but send commands via the bus cable to the actuators in the distribution board. Actuators, conventional switches without bus connection, non-KNX radio buttons and control panels acting as hubs are excluded.
Demand is tied to the number of KNX installations – no command without a sensor, no effect without an actuator – so the ratio of sensors to actuators is constant. Extra growth comes as bus push-buttons displace rocker switches, though the bus share of all switches stays small. Glass push-buttons with displays are growing, priced well above standard devices and popular in architect-designed homes. Sensors are fitted after painting, alongside sockets and switches.
Which questions about the KNX push button market does the dataset answer?
- What share of KNX sensor demand comes from residential versus non-residential buildings?
- How large is renovation demand in the stock compared with new build?
- When was the low point, and how strongly does demand grow up to 2031?
- In which quarters are most push-button sensors installed?
Who is the dataset for?
Makers of switch ranges and bus systems plan design lines, glass and display variants and output; electronics suppliers plan capacity. Wholesalers and integrators align range and showrooms, electricians, architects and planners assess bus-enabled controls, and analysts see how fast bus technology displaces the conventional switch.
Data basis and methodology
Data are provided for the total market and for residential and non-residential buildings, separately for new build and renovation. The series derives from the same number of KNX installations as actuator sales, times a fixed sensor-per-actuator ratio; drivers are completions, permits and renovation activity, plus the shift away from conventional light switches. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.
Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: KNX actuator (switch/dim/blind), Light switch (flush-mounted, rocker/push), Smart home hub / gateway and all data on electrical, smart building and security.
