Kitchen tap market Germany: demand in million units and forecast to 2031

How is the kitchen tap market in Germany developing? The dataset quantifies demand for kitchen sink mixers in million units in every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast. Unlike other sanitary products, volume depends on kitchens, not bathrooms.

The dataset covers kitchen sink taps, mainly single-lever mixers, plus two-handle, sensor and touch models; most have a swivel and pull-out spout. Included are low-pressure taps with three connections for under-sink water heaters, declining in new build but still relevant in older homes, and instant boiling-water taps. Multifunction taps, a premium niche, are excluded, as are bathroom fittings.

The kitchen tap follows the kitchen business cycle rather than bathroom demand. The tap is usually replaced together with the fitted kitchen, plus mandatory swaps when tenants change. Existing homes therefore provide by far the largest share, while residential new build loses weight after the drop in completions. Non-residential demand is limited to catering, schools and nurseries and is smaller than for bathroom fittings. Filter taps and high-margin boiling-water taps drive value growth.

Which questions about the kitchen tap market does the dataset answer?

  • How many sink mixers are fitted in German kitchens each quarter?
  • How much demand comes from new homes and how much from kitchen modernisation?
  • What share of sink mixer demand comes from non-residential buildings?
  • When do kitchen tap sales bottom out, and how do they develop up to 2031?

Who is the dataset for?

Tap and sink manufacturers align production and sales with the series, suppliers of brass, cartridges and pull-out hoses their volume planning. Kitchen studios, furniture retailers and plumbing wholesalers use it for ranges and purchasing, installers for order planning, and analysts as an indicator of kitchen modernisation.

Data basis and methodology

Figures are split into new homes versus renovation and residential versus non-residential use, with a market total. Instead of wet rooms, kitchens per m² of floor space serve as the reference, linked with completions, permits, modernisation activity and a replacement cycle tied to kitchen renewal. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.
