Description
Mineral wool impact sound insulation market Germany: board demand under floating screed and forecast to 2031
How is the mineral wool impact sound insulation market in Germany developing? The dataset reports the required area of stone and glass wool boards in million m², for each quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast.
The boards are stone or glass wool to EN 13162 for application type DES (German insulation standard DIN 4108-10), as a resilient layer under floating screed. Fibres are spun from a melt and mostly resin-bonded. Unlike polystyrene they are non-combustible (class A1), usually cut impact noise better at equal thickness and weigh more, aiding the mass-spring effect, but cost more and are harder to install and moisture-sensitive on site. EPS, wood fibre and cork boards and floor-covering underlays are excluded.
Regulation usually decides: DIN 4109 rules for separating floors in apartment buildings, fire protection in higher building classes, and commercial projects such as hospitals, hotels and offices. The mineral wool share peaks in new non-residential buildings, is lowest in single-family refurbishment and rises as multi-storey housing gains weight. Volumes follow floating screed area and thus mainly new build; existing buildings need a fresh layer only when floors are rebuilt.
Which questions about the mineral wool impact sound insulation market does the dataset answer?
- How is demand for mineral wool impact sound boards split between residential and non-residential buildings?
- How large is the new-build share, and how does it shift by 2031?
- How deep is the new-build slump, how fast the recovery?
- How much comes from screed replacement in existing stock?
Who is the dataset for?
Mineral wool producers plan melting capacity and floor insulation sales. Insulation dealers, fire protection and acoustic planners and screed contractors gain a volume basis; investors and analysts assess a highly concentrated supplier market.
Data basis and methodology
The time series covers the total market, broken down into new construction versus renovation and residential versus non-residential buildings. The model combines completions, permits and modernisation work with how often screed is laid, the proportion of floating screeds and a segment-specific mineral wool share reflecting fire and acoustic rules. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.
Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Impact sound insulation EPS, Calcium sulfate flowing screed (CAF), Acoustic ceiling panel and all data on interior fit-out and flooring.
