Description
Timber front door market Germany: volumes in thousand units and forecast to 2031
How is the timber front door market in Germany developing? The dataset provides sales of wooden entrance doors in thousand units for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast.
The dataset includes house and apartment entrance doors with frame and leaf of solid wood or wood-based material. Timber-aluminium doors with an outer aluminium weather shell are excluded, as with windows. Timber is the smallest of the three door materials and sits in the upper price range: listed building refurbishment, bespoke joinery and eco-minded homeowners.
Timber’s share has been falling for years, faster than for timber windows. Upkeep is the reason: exposed to weather and wear, the door needs regular refinishing – a handicap against aluminium and PVC. Heritage rules, green building certification and design-led demand form a floor, so the decline flattens. Fire safety, usage and upkeep rule timber out of most commercial buildings. Most doors replace old ones in homes, triggered by GEG-driven energy retrofits and burglary protection grants.
Which questions about the timber front door market does the dataset answer?
- How will unit sales of timber front doors develop up to 2031?
- What part of volumes comes from residential renovation?
- How does demand for timber doors in residential new build develop?
- When do sales pick up again after the construction crisis, and how long does the recovery last?
Who is the dataset for?
Joiners, timber door makers and suppliers of laminated scantlings, paints and stains gain a basis for range and capacity decisions. Restorers and heritage architects see how their niche evolves. Timber merchants, investors and analysts can weigh a shrinking but high-quality segment.
Data basis and methodology
Data span the whole market, new build versus renovation and housing versus non-residential use. Completions and permits become doors via typical entrances per building type; replacement follows window renovation. The timber share is above average in residential renovation, well below in non-residential buildings, and declines over time. The model was cross-checked against available market and industry data as well as internal data.
Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: Timber windows, Timber-aluminium windows, Entrance door aluminium and all data on windows, doors and sun protection.
