Twin wire mesh fence market Germany: sales in linear metres and forecast to 2031

How is the twin wire mesh fence market in Germany developing? The dataset quantifies sales of twin wire mesh fences in thousand linear metres for every quarter from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast. The figures cover domestic demand including imported panels.

Twin wire panels are welded steel mats with two horizontal and one vertical wire, galvanised and usually powder-coated in green or anthracite. Panels with posts and fixings are counted. The fences enclose plots of single- and multi-family houses as well as commercial, logistics, school and nursery sites. Chain-link, timber, WPC, gabion and wrought-iron fences, privacy screens and public-area fencing (civil engineering) are excluded.

Sales follow outdoor works at new houses and commercial sites and the renewal of old enclosures. The larger share comes from the existing stock, mainly replacing chain-link and timber fences with twin wire panels and fencing existing plots. After the pandemic garden boom, demand fell with single-family house building; after a trough in 2026, slight growth is expected. A considerable part is imported, mainly from Poland.

Which questions about the twin wire mesh fence market does the dataset answer?

  • How far have sales of twin wire mesh fences in residential new build fallen since 2021?
  • What share of total demand comes from the existing stock?
  • How are fence sales split between residential and non-residential buildings?
  • How are seasonal sales distributed across quarters, and how do they develop up to 2031?

Who is the dataset for?

Fence manufacturers and importers use the series to plan production, purchasing and seasonal stock; wire rod and coating suppliers derive their demand. Merchants, DIY stores and online retailers manage ranges and stock. Fencing contractors and landscapers estimate order potential; analysts assess the outdoor works market.

Data basis and methodology

The data cover new build and renovation, each for residential and non-residential buildings, plus the total market. The model links completions, permits and renovation activity with parameters such as fence length per 1,000 m² of floor area, the share of twin wire panels in enclosures and the replacement rate of existing enclosures. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.
