Description
Dimmer switch market Germany: installations in thousand units and forecast to 2031
How is the dimmer switch market in Germany developing? The dataset shows how many flush-mounted dimmers are installed nationwide, in thousand units, with values for all quarters from Q1/2021 to Q4/2031 – as historical market data and forecast.
The focus is the flush-mounted dimmer for stepless brightness control, today mostly a universal LED dimmer with trailing or leading edge phase control, operated as rotary, push or rocker dimmer from the same switch range. KNX dimming actuators, DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) control gear, dimmable lamps, ballasts and fan speed controllers are excluded. Main uses are living and bedrooms in upscale homes, hotels and restaurants; standard apartments in multi-storey housing often have none.
Lighting technology provides tailwind: with the near-complete switch to LED, dimmable solutions are becoming standard and lighting scenes gain ground in upscale housing, so the dimmer share of the switch market rises steadily. Because dimmers are concentrated in high-end fit-outs, the recent slump was somewhat milder than for sockets and switches, which depend more on new-build volumes. Volumes are driven by detached houses with much richer equipment per dwelling and by renovation, which generates most of the demand.
Which questions about the dimmer switch market does the dataset answer?
- What volume of dimmers goes into new build each quarter, and what into renovation?
- How much dimmer demand comes from non-residential buildings?
- When does dimmer demand bottom out, and how fast does it grow to 2031?
- In which quarters are most dimmers fitted?
Who is the dataset for?
Dimmer and switch range manufacturers assess launches and output, electronics suppliers their component planning. Lighting designers, electrical contractors and hotel outfitters estimate demand for lighting control, wholesalers secure LED-compatible stock, and analysts obtain a gauge of high-quality interior fit-out.
Data basis and methodology
The series is divided into new build and renovation for both residential and non-residential buildings, plus the total. It starts from completions, permits and renovation volumes, combined with dimmers per home depending on building type, an area-based rate for non-residential buildings, the replacement rate and a trend factor for the growing share among switches. Volumes were derived from stock, equipment and renewal parameters and checked for plausibility against available industry information and internal data.
Delivered as CSV and Excel files, each in German and English, with 44 quarterly values. Related datasets: LED recessed spotlight / downlight, Light switch (flush-mounted, rocker/push), KNX actuator (switch/dim/blind) and all data on electrical, smart building and security.
